چکیده

An effective compression artifacts removal algorithm is proposed based on thin-plate spline interpolation and the theory of projections onto convex sets (POCS). The thin-plate spline model is used to model the luminance in the flat regions of the image. Adaptive projections are used to suppress the compression artifacts in the spatially active image regions. The algorithm includes block mapping, prediction of the spatial distribution of the quantization error and estimation of the visibility of the compression artifacts. Information obtained from the transform domain is used in the thin-plate interpolation phase. The adaptive projections use information from both the spatial and transform domains. Experiments performed with JPEG-compressed images demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in suppressing the compression artifacts, along with its ability for preserving the image sharpness.

Removal of compression artifacts using projections onto convex sets and line process modeling

We present a new image recovery algorithm to remove, in addition to blocking, ringing artifacts from compressed images and video. This new algorithm is based on the theory of projections onto convex sets (POCS). A new family of directional smoothness constraint sets is defined based on line processes modeling of the image edge structure. The definition of these smoothness sets also takes into a...

Adaptive-Filtering-Based Algorithm for Impulsive Noise Cancellation from ECG Signal

Suppression of noise and artifacts is a necessary step in biomedical data processing. Adaptive filtering is known as useful method to overcome this problem. Among various contaminants, there are some situations such as electrical activities of muscles contribute to impulsive noise. This paper deals with modeling real-life muscle noise with α-stable probability distribution and adaptive filterin...

Removal of Artifacts from ECG Signal Using RLS Based Adaptive Filter: A Review

The electrocardiogram (ECG) is used for diagnosis of heart diseases. In a few circumstances the recorded ECG signals are corrupted by various noise signals caused by power line interference, base line wander, electrode movement, muscular movement (EMG) etc. These noise signals are known as artifacts. These artifacts mislead the diagnosis of heart which is not desired. To avoid this problem caus...

Shao) Compression artifacts removal is a challenging problem because videos can be compressed at different qualities. In this paper, a least squares approach that is self-adaptive to the visual quality of the input sequence is proposed. For comp...

Combined Frequency and Spatial Domain Algorithm for the Removal of Blocking Artifacts

A novel combined frequency and spatial domain method is presented in this paper for blockiness reduction for low bit rate compressed images. The method consists of two stages: in the first, better estimates of the reconstructed DCT coefficients are obtained based on their observed probability distribution. In the second, an efficient postprocessing scheme consisting of a region classification a...
